Travel Guide To Accra, Ghana

The capital of Ghana derives its name from the word Nkran from the native language Akan. This is basically a mention of sporadic anthills in and around Accra. The word itself means "Ants". It also has the honor of being Ghana's largest metropolitan city - incorporating eight separate districts - home to a conglomeration of around four (04) million friendly and hospitable people across and all over it.

Its architecture offers a blend of royalty typical of colonial buildings, modernity and the contemporary concrete, steel and glass structures. Skyscrapers scarcely disbursed in the cosmopolitan outlook of the city mark its transition to modern day metropolis. Built on a port, along the Atlantic coast, it offers impressive luxury hotels, clubs, shopping malls, spectacular monuments, bustling markets and commercial areas.

The temperature in Accra is mainly static with an annual average of 26.8 °C i.e. 80.2 °F but surprisingly winter is more humid than summer.
